Cooper Rodgers, MD grew up in the Kansas City Area and attended Blue Valley North High School. After finishing high school, he attended the University of Florida on National Merit scholarship and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology.
After attaining his undergraduate degree, Cooper returned to the Kansas City Area to study medicine at the University of Kansas where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. As a medical student, Cooper became passionate about the field of ophthalmology through his research in glaucoma and through experiences which showed him the positive impact of eye surgery on patient quality of life.
Dr. Rodgers completed a one-year internship at the University of Florida- Shands Hospital where he helped care for critically ill patients at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the medical intensive care unit. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Florida where he had the privilege to care for US Veterans and act as a refractive surgeon for active airmen and sailors at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL.
At Grin Eye, Dr. Rodgers' main interest is in cataract and refractive surgery. He also manages a wide variety of eye conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and droopy eyelids.
In his spare time, Dr. Rodgers enjoys running, weightlifting, kayaking, and Chiefs football. He is thrilled have the opportunity to return to the Kansas City Area, serve his community and provide a high level of compassionate and competent care to his patients.
